They can choose anything from an item, to a memory, a film or even a country. Four of them are things they want to preserve but one has to be something they’re happy to bury and never have to think about again.

Sam Williams is an award-winning comedian, writer, and actor who is known for his vivid confessional stand-up. His acclaim on the live circuit includes winning the Komedia New Comedy Award in 2023 and making his TV debut on BBC Three’s New Comedy Awards. He can also be seen on ITV2’s Standup Sketch Show and at the Pleasance Comedy Reserve at the Fringe. Ep. 512 - Paul Sinha

Paul Sinha is perhaps best known as the Sinnerman on the ITV quiz show 'The Chase’. Paul has also been a successful comedian for a number of years. As a club comedian, he has played every major comedy club in the UK, performed in eighteen other countries across the globe, and been three times nominated for Best Club Comedian at the Chortle Awards, winning in 2014. Paul has taken eight solo shows to the Edinburgh Fringe, his 2006 show Saint Or Sinha being nominated for the Perrier award. His 2017 show Shout Out To My Ex had a sellout run and toured nationally, with 2018’s The Two Ages Of Man following suit. On Radio 4, Paul has appeared several times on Just A Minute, The Now Show, and The News Quiz; and has made his own programmes on cricket, the 2012 Olympics, the Magna Carta, and UK citizenship; and three series of the Rose d’Or-winning Paul Sinha’s History Revision. He also plays for the South of England on the long-running Round Britain Quiz. On Radio 5 Live, he is a regular (and twice series champion) on the sports panel show Fighting Talk. Paul is ranked sixth in the UK at quizzing and, in November 2017, recorded his second top-ten finish at the European Quizzing Championships.

Ep. 511 - Matt Parker

Matt Parker is a stand-up comedian, #1-best-selling maths author and a YouTuber with over 1.3 million subscribers and over 100 million views. He is a regular on Discovery’s Outrageous Acts of Science and BBC Radio 4’s More or Less and has been heard and see on BBC2’s QI, on BBC Radio 4’s Infinite Monkey Cage and The Museum of Curiosity and he created the BBC Radio 4 comedy show Domestic Science. His latest book Love Triangle was a New York Times best-seller and was his second book to be a #1-best-seller in the UK. Matt has previously held world records for both the Rubik’s Cube and Space Invaders. Ep. 509 - Steve Blacknell

Steve Blacknell dated Kate Bush and flew on Concorde with Phil Collins from London to Philadelphia during Live Aid—just two highlights from a life lived at full volume. A former BBC presenter and MTV VJ, Steve introduced New Order on Riverside, hosted Breakfast Time and Radio1’s In Concert, and interviewed everyone from Lemmy to David Cassidy (in a hotel jacuzzi). He got his start in hospital radio thanks to advice from John Peel, worked in PR for labels like Decca and Chrysalis, and did PR for Peter Stringfellow in the ’80s. Now CEO of the Central London School of TV and Media Training and host of Soho’s Waffle Club, Steve’s memoir Tales From The Bedroom Wall, charts his journey through fame, addiction, reinvention—and everything in between .

Lost Voice Guy, real name Lee Ridley, is the multi-award-winning comedian who shot to fame after winning Britain’s Got Talent in 2018—the first comic to do so using a communication device. He also won the BBC New Comedy Award in 2014 and the Tech4Good “Awesome Award” in 2019, and has featured multiple times in the Disability Power 100 list. Ep. 506 - Chris Tarrant

Chris Tarrant is a British broadcaster and presenter best known as the original host of the hit quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, which he fronted from 1998 to 2014. With a career spanning over five decades, he began as a radio DJ and rose to fame in the 1970s on the anarchic children’s TV show Tiswas. Tarrant has also hosted numerous radio shows, most notably with Capital Radio, where he hosted the breakfast show for 17 years. Beyond game shows and radio, Tarrant has fronted a wide range of television programmes, including travel documentaries and crime series such as Extreme Railways and Tarrant on TV. Known for his warmth, humour, and distinctive voice, he remains one of Britain’s most enduring and versatile broadcasting personalities. His latest project is the book, For the Love of Bears, where he writes about one of his greatest passions – bears. He regales us with tales of his expeditions to see bears in their stunning, natural habitats, from the Arctic Circle, to Canada, Alaska, Scandinavia and Russia.

Carl Donnelly is an award-winning stand-up comedian who has twice been nominated for the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Awards. His TV appearances include shows like Mock the Week, Russell Howard’s Good News, Dave’s One Night Stand and Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled. Carl launched his comedy career in 2005 and quickly rose through the ranks—winning Laughing Horse New Act of the Year (2006), Chortle Best Newcomer (2007), and Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year (2007). Over more than a decade, he’s performed eleven solo shows at Edinburgh and graced stages at major international festivals including Montreal’s Just for Laughs, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival and Kilkenny Cat Laughs. Ep. 504 - Sheli McCoy AKA Sabre from Gladiators

Sheli McCoy is better known as "Sabre" from Gladiators, the British TV endurance sports game show, which she first appeared on in 2024. She is recognised as one of the stand-out stars of the show, going on to be a guest speaker for the Dundee University giving their Annual Public Lecture in Entrepreneurship, appearing on the BBC One charity fundraising show Comic Relief, the television quiz shows The Weakest Link and on The Wheel as one of the celebrity experts. Sheli isa fitness industry entrepreneur, who co-owns SweatBox in Dundee, a gym and health facility that houses her sports clinic, gym facility and Olympic weightlifting club. She set three Scottish weightlifting records in 2023 and she’s worked as a Personal trainer for over 13 years and has 10 years experience as a Crossfit Coach. Sheli also holds a Bachelors degree, an honours and a Masters from Robert Gordons university Aberdeen .

Ep. 503 - Kerry Ellis

Kerry Ellis is one of the biggest stars of musicals from the West End to Broadway. She originated the role of Meat, in Queen’s We Will Rock You and was the first British Elphaba in the West End smash, Wicked, for which Kerry won the 2008 Whatsonstage.com Award for ‘Best Takeover in a Role’. She then immediately transferred to Broadway and played Elphaba at the Gershwin Theatre for 6 months, where she won the Broadway.com Audience Award for Favourite Female Breakthrough Performance. Her many other leading role credits include Nancy in Oliver! at Drury lane, Eliza Doolittle My Fair Lady, Ellen in Miss Saigon, Fantine in Les Miserables and Grizabella in Cats at the London Palladium. Kerry’s first major CD release was the amazing Wicked in Rock, a collaboration with long time friend and Queen guitarist, Brian May. Her debut album Anthems was released in 2010 on Decca Records. The success of the album, which reached No.15 in the UK album chart, and No.10 in the UK pop club charts, led to a major tour which kicked off at the Royal Albert Hall. She has performed internationally, including performances at the Royal Variety Performance, at the Laurence Olivier Awards, duetting with Barry Manilow on BBC Television and Radio, at G.A.Y., on Loose Women, Alan Titchmarsh Show, BBC Breakfast, at the Henley Festival alongside John Barrowman and the Queen’s Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace .

Ep. 501 - Olia Hercules

Olia Hercules is a Ukrainian-born, London-based chef, food writer, and culinary storyteller renowned for bringing the vibrant flavours and traditions of Eastern Europe to a global audience. Olia trained at Leiths School of Food and Wine and went on to work as a chef de partie at Ottolenghi, later becoming a sought-after recipe developer and stylist. Her debut cookbook, Mamushka (2015), won the Fortnum & Mason Debut Food Book Award and earned her the Observer’s Rising Star accolade. She’s since published celebrated cookbooks including Kaukasis (2017), Summer Kitchens (2020), and Home Food (2022), each weaving rich cultural narratives into home-style recipes. In response to the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Olia co-founded the #CookForUkraine initiative, raising over £2 million for relief efforts and earning prestigious awards from Observer Food Monthly, the Guild of Food Writers, and 50 Best Restaurants. Featured among British Vogue’s Most Influential Women of 2022, she continues to advocate for her heritage through writing, teaching, and activism. She hosts workshops, writes for major food publications, and has just released her latest book Strong Roots, a family memoir exploring Ukraine’s history and hope through generations. Ep. 499 - Ute Lemper

Ute Lemper is an internationally celebrated German singer and actress. She first gained international acclaim playing Sally Bowles in Cabaret in Paris, a performance that earned her the Molière Award for Best Newcomer. She went on to star as Velma Kelly in Chicago in both the West End and on Broadway, winning the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical and a Theatre World Award. Her early career also included key roles in Cats in Vienna and Peter Pan and The Blue Angel in Berlin. Ute has become an international cabaret icon, renowned for her interpretations of Kurt Weill, Marlene Dietrich, Édith Piaf, and Astor Piazzolla. She has performed at prestigious venues such as La Scala, Lincoln Center, and the Sydney Opera House. Her recording career includes over 30 albums, with standout projects like Ute Lemper Sings Kurt Weill, Illusions, and Punishing Kiss, featuring songs by Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, and Nick Cave. She was named Billboard’s Crossover Artist of the Year in 1993/94. Her film work includes notable roles in L’Autrichienne as Marie Antoinette, Peter Greenaway’s Prospero’s Books, and Prêt-à-Porter. She also provided the German voice for Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. With multiple Grammy nominations and a ballet created for her by Maurice Béjart, Ute Lemper remains one of the most dynamic and influential performers of her generation .

Petroc Trelawny is best known for being the host of BBC Radio 3’s Breakfast show for 14 years from 1998. In April 2025, he transitioned to co-host “In Tune” alongside Katie Derham, succeeding Sean Rafferty. In 1992, Petroc joined Classic FM as its inaugural afternoon show host, later moving to London News Radio and co-presenting BBC GMR’s Breakfast Show. Petroc has introduced numerous broadcasts for Radio 3, including the BBC Proms, Cardiff Singer of the World, and the Leeds International Piano Competition. His television appearances span BBC Two, BBC Four, and Sky Arts. In 2018, he co-hosted the Eurovision Young Musicians final, and in 2019, the Eurovision Choir of the Year

Miranda Raison is perhaps best known as Jo Portman in BBC’s Spooks. Miranda has most recently been seen leading Britbox’s hit show Sister Boniface Mysteries which she returns for series 4 in 2025. Next up she is leading David Hare’s new play Grace Pervades as Ellen opposite Ralph Fiennes at the Theatre Royal Bath in June 2025. Grace Pervades tells the extraordinary story of Henry Irving and Ellen Terry, the greatest stars of the Victorian stage. Peter Fincham was the Controller of BBC One from 2006 to 2007 and ITV’s Director of Television from 2008 to 20016. Before that, Peter was the Managing Director of TalkBack Productions where he oversaw the creation and production of programmes such as The Day Today, Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge, They Think It’s All Over, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, I'm Alan Partridge, Smack the Pony and Da Ali G Show. TalkBack was sold to FremantleMedia in 2001 and Peter became the chief executive of the newly formed Talkback Thames. Since 2017 he’s been the co-CEO of Expectation, the makers of Clarkson’s Farm and highly successful and multi award winning comedy, Alma’s Not Normal. He also makes a podcast with his old University and Cambridge Footlights friend, the head of Hatrick productions, Jimmy Mulville, called Insiders: The TV Podcast, where two of the most experienced men of TV from the last forty years tell all.

Ep. 494 - Ben Hart

Ben Hart is a magician best known for reaching the grand final of Britain's Got Talent in 2019, finishing third. He has returned to the programme several times, on BGT: The Champions, America's Got Talent: The Champions, and Britain's Got Talent Christmas Spectacular. An award-winning performer, he’s also a writer, inventor, and designer of magic tricks and illusions. At the age of 16, Ben won the prestigious "Young Magician of the Year" award from The Magic Circle. He wrote and starred in Killer Magic on BBC Three, Ben Hart's Life Hacks with the Voice, pranking the celebrity judges of The Voice UK, including Boy George, Paloma Faith and Ricky Wilson, appeared in a regular slot within Now You See It on BBC One hosted by Mel Giedroyc. He’s also been in the Sorcerer’s Apprentice on CBBC, The One Show and multiple times on This Morning. Ben has written and performed 7 solo shows, each premiering at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and has performed as part of Impossible, playing two seasons at the Noël Coward Theatre in London's West End. He is currently preparing his new show for Edinburgh which he’ll be premiering at the Palais Du Variété (Assembly George Square Gardens from 30 July to 24 August 2025. He’ll then be touring it all over the country, including performances at the famous Wilton’s Music Hall in London, in September .
